Robertson

Our first stay on our 8 days wine tour was in Robertson. Here we stayed on a winery called Fraai Uitzicht (pretty view), which is owned by a german couple. Our room was quite basic, but the view and gardens were very pretty and they have a very good restaurant with special food and very good wines. For instance as a first course we had a warthog carpaccio marinated with truffel oil with a scoop blue-cheese ice cream accompanied by a glass of Viognier and although I really do not like blue-cheese I loved this combination.

Besides of the jacaranda trees there was not much to be seen in Robertson:

For the next day we have booked a wine tour with a vintage car - a Holden which was built in 1964. Very slowly in style we drove to several wine estates and enjoyed the great views on the way. The jacaranda trees and the roses are in full bloom now and this looks spectacular with the vineyards and mountains in the background.

Three weeks later we drove again to Fraai Uitzicht to buy some wine. This time we had lunch at Christinas Bistro at the Van Loveren Estate. Here we could admire their beautiful rose garden in full bloom:
